Today we are excited to announce our investment in Auctionet, the leading Nordic digital marketplace for continuous auctions online.
The Stockholm-based company was founded in 2011 by Niclas Söderholm, Tom Österman, Mark Westphal, and Albert Ramstedt. During the last five years the company has seen annual volume growth of 42% and today the group has more than SEK 400m in revenue and the platform houses more than 75 auction houses and 900,000 auction buyers from all across the globe.
As the circular economy grows, the demand for vintage goods is increasing. At the same time, traditional local auction houses increasingly need to offer their customers a competitive and seamless online shopping experience, to ensure the best possible auction results. Auctionet has become a highly appreciated partner to local auction houses by enabling them to reach a global market, while also helping them streamline their operations and facilitate everything from categorization to seamless payments and efficient transportation.
With a market leading position in the Nordics, Auctionet now plans to further expand internationally with a specific focus on the UK in the short- to mid-term.
When Alfvén & Didrikson moved to a new office earlier this year, we used Auctionet to buy almost all of our furniture. Today, we are excited by the opportunity to partner with this amazing team and their exceptional marketplace on their future journey!
A&D has invested SEK 75m in Auctionet to become the company’s largest shareholder, together with the founder and CEO Niklas Söderholm and the Chairman of the Board Peter Larsson. This investment underscores Alfvén & Didrikson’s commitment to backing growth companies with a clear purpose.
